Artist Statement: This artwork addresses how distorted our self-perception can become due to beauty expectations. How we view ourselves changes over the years due to various influences and each layer represents a different standard we hold ourselves to. It can be hard for us to establish our own identities and know our true selves when we are always expected, by either ourselves or others, to look different. It is a mix of digital (Medibang Paint) on paper and acrylic paint on mylar.
