Under the Sea

Artist Statement: I’ve always loved the ocean. Whether it was just walking along the beach and smelling the salty water or being in a boat ready to jump into the ocean from the roof. When I was told we were to do a string art piece I knew that mine would have to do something with the ocean. Whales are my favorite marine mammal so I decided to do a whale. I wanted the background to look like the ocean so I painted the bottom, middle, and top of the ocean and blendind them together. I wanted to use another object other than just string and nails so I decided to use rocks, shells, and beach glass that my grandparents found. For the eye of my whale I used a purple shell because purple is one of my favorite colors.
