Throughout the Ocean

Artist Statement: To me the meaning of art is to show the emotions of life. I love to work with inspiration from my Aleut culture. A headdress is traditionally used in dance. In “Throughout the Ocean,” I have incorporated the copper seals that I sawed out in my Jewelry class at school. Metal is not a traditional material in my culture, but everyone encourages to incorporate me. This piece gives me a feeling of calmness and I hope it does for others too. Dancing is my happy place.
