Artist Statement: Art to me is a visual and emotional expression of transformation. Creating all types of art allows me to relax knowing there is no such thing as a mistake, only redirection, an emotional transformation. Jewelry specifically is a way to adorn my body, a visual transformation. My designs in this class have been mainly inspired by other creations of work. In my piece “Through the Sea Glass” I take inspiration from the beaches along the coastal trail, and the sea glass that washes up on the shore. Overall, I do tend to prefer shiny and possibly textured finishes. As an artist my goal is to show imagination, in myself and the viewer, and that anything may be transformed. Finally, from this class I have learned that in order to learn you must do. I have realized that the best way to understand how a medium works or how to use a specific tool is to just by going out and using them.
