Thoughts of Yellow

April 10, 2017 ASAA

Title of Art Piece: Thoughts of Yellow
Category: Drawing – 2017
Student/Artist’s Name: Madison Gilberto
School: Thunder Mountain High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement:

All my life I have been fascinated by the human face and form. I’ve practiced in many mediums trying to capture a person’s essence and this has honestly been one of my favorite processes. I used prisma-color on illustration board. The piece took weeks of obsessive detail work. I’ve discovered a lot about a medium I had rarely used before and enjoyed myself immensely. For a lot of the highlighting and texture I used an x-acto knife to cut into the board and fray the paper, the process for which was extremely frustrating and ultimately rewarding. I get my passion for art and people from my great grandma who gave me the base for all I know.
