Artist Statement: This drawing is symbolic of myself, showing a girl who is anxious about where to go with her life and is facing a crossroads. The piece shows a girl who is figuring out how to navigate anxiety and loss of direction. She is reluctant to move, as shown in the recessive posture and twisted face, yet does so anyway in the art to represent how whether a person wants time to move on or not, it does. Along with the girl, there are little tokens in the back that each have a special meaning, such as the the crow following her to show the fear of death and the anxiety of living. Another is the stuffed animal dog and dinosaur that show something no longer being alive and how accepting that they are gone is an act of maturity, which is why the girl is walking away from them, connecting again the idea that time carries on regardless. This piece is a reflection of losing something or someone you love and how loss can lead to being lost.
