Artist Statement: The chase – The Snowshoe Hare and Dragonflies are incredibly resourceful creatures and what I see as the epitome of spring. Paired with budding blueberries I think of my eagerness for winter to end and for life to reawaken within Juneau.
What I love about printmaking is the amount of planning, intention and irreversibility that the artist has to commit to to come up with a final product. Reduction prints are like a puzzle within my mind that I get to unravel and I find it an incredibly meditative process. All of my work is inspired by nature, particularly the local fauna in Juneau that I can see just out my window or in my dad’s fishing boat. It has been a joy to see my art take shape and develop into its final form.
