Swept Away

Artist Statement: My drawing, Swept Away, started with the idea of friendship. At first, I wanted to show two people in an everyday life experience. I really liked the idea of something sort of magical happening in this normal world. I tried many different ideas to add this magic aspect and liked the one I came up with. I love to draw detailed landscapes whether it be city or nature, so I used both. The first time I drew my idea I struggled with how flat my art seemed, so I gave it a different angle, one to show more of the city and to make the people seem less flat. I really enjoyed making this piece and liked how it turned out.
