Slip Trailed Creamer

March 27, 2014 ASAA

Title of Art Piece: Slip Trailed Creamer
Category: Ceramics – 2014
Student/Artist’s Name: Mikylla Blauvelt
School: Homer High School
Grade: 10th
Artist Statement: This piece, strangely, started out as a mistake in a thrown bowl that I was making, but turned into one of my favorite pieces. I guess people just need to learn how to turn mistakes into something better. Anyways, with this genie lamp, I was able to smooth the outside and use a piping bag and tip to add decoration, as you can see. I tried multiple different handle techniques, but ended up doing a simple little handle; I love it. The strength for this piece is in how much detail is included in the edgy designs. I couldn’t be more happy to have messed up on that bowl. Now, where’s my three wishes?
