Artist Statement: My artwork which is titled, “Silent Beauty”, is a watercolor painting of a Trumpeter Swan Family. I used different shades of each color to give it a more textured look. For the vines on the corner, I used a dabbing technique using a damp paintbrush and different shades of green to create textures. I used a darker blue to create the ripples on the water and a bit of white to blur the blue to create a more realistic look on the ripples. I tried to show the graceful beauty and peacefulness of trumpeter swans. My goal as an artist is to explore techniques and textures and this piece helped because it made me experiment with how to create textures and what techniques to use. The final piece is close to what I imagined and I would like to incorporate the textures and techniques in future artworks.
