Artist Statement: This piece is a lino print with two blocks, one for the black outlines and one for the red details. I began printmaking a few months before making this piece because I had always been interested in the medium and with this piece I wanted to push myself and see how much I could do with this new medium. This is the largest and most detailed print I have ever made. This piece was inspired by my love of mushrooms as a motif. I had the idea of mushrooms growing from a skull and that led me to the idea of a person looking (mostly) normal on the outside but rotting away on the inside.
