Artist Statement: In this painting, the horses are breaking free from their pin and racing along the open landscape symbolizing their pursuit of freedom and liberation. The untamed spirit of the horses is captured by their movement in the painting. Also the vastness of the landscape embraces the idea of endless possibilities signifying their freedom. In contrast the presence of the cowboys introduces the ides of control between them and the horses.
