Red Reaction

Artist Statement: Originally, this piece was just supposed to be a silly tomato guy, but as I progressed on it I realized it had turned into something more than that. I always thought it looked funny whenever a man turned bright red when angry and thought of the phrase “As red as a tomato,” so I decided to turn that into a piece of artwork. As I worked on this, it got me thinking about people in power and how many of them are used to having everything handed to them, so whenever something doesn’t go their way, they react to it in an extreme way. Many of these people are also picky about the way they want things to occur, and because the tomato is a common food rejected by picky eaters, I felt it was representative of that attitude.
