Night Watch

Artist Statement: A chicken has many predators- Foxes, Marmots, Raccoons, etc. They live in a constant mode of fight or flight, with no certainty of survival. With no big claws or tough skin to protect it, they rely on being in total awareness of their surroundings. In this charcoal drawing I aimed to capture the chicken face in a moment of perk alertness. The solid black background enhances this tension, emphasizing the quiet intensity of its vigilance during the “Night Watch”.
