Title of Art Piece: My Comfort Room
Category: Painting – 2023

Grade: 12th
Artist Statement: In this painting, I tried to create an atmosphere that I find comfort in. Some key elements I put in this painting is the setting. You can see outside the window is a city, this city is supposed to look like Boston, a city I grew up near. I find comfort in Boston, for it is a city that I was familiar with when I was younger. Every now and then, I reminisce about the city, the way it made me feel, the public music performances, the beautiful architecture, the art surrounding Boston. Another key element is the piano on the right side of the painting. I’ve been playing piano for years now, and whenever I am stressed out or struggling, I find comfort in playing my piano sonatas and waltzes. The last element of comfort is the couch. I can imagine myself sprawling out on the couch, maybe while reading a book, listening to a friend fooling around on the piano, or taking a nap after a long day.
