Artist Statement: The meaning of this piece is that from death beautiful things can blossom from it. When making the teapot I was completely stumped for what I should do for the teapot. Till one time in class we were talking about chiropractor and bone. And from that conversation I started working on fossil for the teapot, then on top would be crystals, then finally the flower on top. But since it has both life and death in the piece I thought the name for it would be perfect since it means “to death, for life”. And that under something so innocent like a flower can be these big beautiful fossil underneath the soil.
