Title of Art Piece: Institutional Anger
Category: Mixed Media – 2025
Student/Artist’s Name: Emmett Johnson
School: Wasilla High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement: I make art to explore the world and its people through various lenses and perspectives. Understanding the connection between architecture and the human condition is a passion of mine. This piece explores the ways that institutional stability effects the way we see our built environments. I experimented with how monetary expenses can lead to poor building strategies and weaker construction material causing the public perception of our cities to decline. I also explored the visual monotony within modern American architecture and how it effects the ways we define our culture.
