Fungi on Branches

March 24, 2014 ASAA

Title of Art Piece: Fungi on Branches
Category: Sculpture – 2014
Student/Artist’s Name: Katherine Weddleton
School: West Anchorage High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement: I was inspired to make this piece by the fungi that grows off of trees in the woods. The color of the platelets adds a twist to what actual fungi would naturally look like, and the increasing size of the platelets as along the piece creates upwards movement and rhythm. To create the piece, I used mixed media, including driftwood, cardboard, and tempura paint.
Artwork Dimensions: 19 Inches High x 13 Inches Wide x 9 Inches Deep
