Artist Statement: “Flea Boys” is a visual depiction of soldiers losing innocence. It was inspired by the novel “All Quiet on the Western Front” and is meant to display the remembrance of childhood. The sunset resembles the dying soul of a soldier bleeding out. The ground is the body and the water is the blood. The reason it’s a silhouette is to describe the empty, dark feeling of losing something. That thing is innocence, if you couldn’t guess. The colors represent the warm feeling of being a kid. I used Procreate to paint this.
