Title of Art Piece: Five Year Old’s Promise
Category: Jewelry / Metalsmithing – 2016
Student/Artist’s Name: Hayden Chase
School: Homer High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement: When I was five years old I had told my dad that I would get him a float plane when I got old enough to have my own real job; so for my dad’s birthday this year, I decided to make his float plane. Of course, it was not exactly what he had in mind but loved it all the same.

When I started this project I had to collect as many butter knifes as I could, and I knew that I would needs lots. I welding the body of the plane together first. Once that was shaped the way I wanted, I moved to the wings, then the floats and then on to the finishing of the propeller and ended with the completed project. All I needed was a game plan. Once I had that it just came together they why I had envisioned it.
