Artist Statement: “In my art, I focus on how pictures can make us feel. Philippe Halsman once said “For me, each portrait is my statement about my subject… The subject must not pose but reveal himself and it must be of such psychological truth and depth that it becomes more than a document and produces the same emotion which we feel when we look at a work of art. ”Like Halsman, when I take photos, I try to capture more than just what someone looks like. I want to show what they’re feeling inside. Each picture is like a snapshot of someone’s thoughts and emotions.My photos are like records of what it’s like to be human. They freeze moments that are full of meaning and feeling. When people look at them, I hope they see a bit of themselves and others, and maybe feel something special.”
