Chains of Hate

April 2, 2012 ASAA

Chains of Hate

(2nd Place – Drawing)

Title of Art Piece: “Chains of Hate”
Category: Drawing
Student/Artist’s Name: Kyra Anderson
School: Kodiak High School
Grade: 9th

Artist Statement: My piece was inspired by the feeling of breaking free of the chains of hate, by the feeling of letting the beauty around you sooth the tension. The butterflies in my piece symbolize beauty and the distance in the woman’s eyes symbolizes how easy it is to be blind to the beauty while engrossed in hate. Some people spend their entire lives buried and chained to this hate, so the bones and skulls in the frame represent the people who never noticed the beauty in life.
