Body Dysphoria

April 19, 2022 ASAA

1st Place – Communication Arts / Graphic Design

Title of Art Piece: Body Dysphoria
Category: Communication Arts / Graphic Design – 2022
Student/Artist’s Name: Sarah Dundas
School: Joe Redington Sr. Jr/Sr High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement:

Behind the mirror is a girl who finds herself stuck in the deep clutches of body dysphoria. Body dysphoria is a minor detail that a person will focus on for hours if it is imperfect in their eyes. People such as the woman in this photo will constantly look in the mirror and compare themselves to others (hence the photos that are taped onto the mirror). Body dysphoria is a big deal here because of the constant worry of imperfection of our own bodies, and I think that we should always be aware that this exists and maybe one day we can love and cherish our own bodies for what they are.
