Beautiful Death

March 25, 2014 ASAA

Title of Art Piece: Beautiful Death
Category: Painting – 2014
Student/Artist’s Name: Mariah Winters
School: Houston High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement: This piece first started as a sketch, but it was depressing, so I started adding flowers and ribbons. I finished it with adding bright colors, shading and lines that really made it pop. It is a sugar skull from the Mexican tradition, Day of the Dead, and I personally like that day, paying respects to everyone that has passes away, no matter who it is, and its lively. I like the celabration part of it, its moarning but in a good and fun way.
Artwork Dimensions: 15 inches X 23 inches
