Automaton

Heart

(1st Place – Drawing)

Title of Art Piece: Automaton
Category: Drawing
Student/Artist’s Name: Molly Putman
School: North Pole High School
Grade: 12th

Artist Statement: For better or for worse, technology is becoming a larger part of our lives, and so this piece is intended to reflect how tied we are to our tools. This year in High School I’ve been taking a human anatomy class, and learning about the structure of the human body has inspired me to create artwork that shows the structure of the body, but in an interesting way. Anatomy drawings and machine blueprints and parts at times seem strikingly similar, so it makes sense to me to blend the two.
