Aliens of Our World

Artist Statement: This piece is titled “Aliens of Our World” and was inspired by the colorful, otherworldly sea creatures called nudibranchs (noo-dee-branks). Created for West High’s Fine Arts assembly, the piece is wearable and also lit from within. I tried to give the tissue paper a stained class effect by painting it with a mixture of water, acrylic, and glue once it was on the reed structure. I created a thin layer so that the light could still shine through.
