Artist Statement: My art work includes Spiderman in a watercolored block print. It includes Spiderman in the middle with his spider senses tingling. The Spiderman in the block print I made is a version of Spiderman that has a black suit. I created this art by carving out a block print. I searched up a picture of Spiderman and used that as my inspiration for my work, but I added some changes of my own. I used carving tools and watercolor paints to make my art. It was hard at first, but I eventually made it. My goals for this project were to make the carvings deep enough so ink wouldn’t get on it. And it turned out pretty nice. My overall thoughts about this project are positive. It helped me learn many skills and many lessons. It taught me how to carve, how to print, and how to learn from my mistakes. The final piece is exactly what I imagined.
