Raven Totem

Artist Statement: This is a project I did for a History of Alaska class, but I really like how it turned out. I tried to illustrate the story of Raven with different animals representing parts of the story and the sun in his mouth at the top of the totem as the focal point. I draw a lot of animals and for this project I tried to use a more illustrative style and stick with colors representative of the Tlingit and Haida groups. I liked the project so much I actually painted a second totem with animals representing aspects of my life.
