Fading Coral

Artist Statement: This artwork is a visual representation of individual struggles with addiction to smoking, drugs, etc. The work itself is a colorful piece of coral, with each layer painted and colored with colored pencils to bring out finer details. From the beginning of the first layer to the last, the coral's color fades. This symbolizes the individual's innocence and sense of reality; the turtle, when it is deep in its addiction and can’t get out of it.
