Test Anxiety

Artist Statement: This painting is of an actual experience of mine, during Map testing. I first painted the composition and the girl in black and white paint, then used a color wash to give it color. I intentionally was carrying the colors that best represent the emotions of panic that I was trying to convey. The girl is blue for despair. I cut out pieces of wrapping paper and had them seeping out of the students. I also roughly used paint pen to scribble confusing math problems. And I used red string threaded through my canvas, growing from her as a representation of anxiety and fear.
