Good Morning, Alaska

Artist Statement: Halfway through my first year of pottery, I found myself disappointed. Not because I wasn’t making good pots, but because I wasn’t decorating them in a way that felt impressive. I wanted to make something that looked visually interesting and artistic. I took inspiration from all over. However, I landed on Alaskas iconic mountain ranges and forests that i’ve grown up around. Pottery, like the mountains, has a lot of ups and downs. For me, this piece is a nice ridge to rest and reflect on in my pottery journey.
