Canachites Canadensis

Artist Statement: This piece was made out of single a 2” x 2” square piece of brass. I used a jewelry saw to cut out negative spaces to create my desired design. I got the design as smooth as I could with files and sandpaper, but kept more organic edges. The negative space was inspired by Spruce Grouse, the claw design replicating the shape and curve. In order to make them wearable, I attached the cutout pieces to stud earrings.
