String Beta

Artist Statement: Growing up in Alaska I’ve always been around fish, fishing has always been an important part of my life. The way the fish bends, and along with it, its tail has always seemed beautiful to me. The beta fish has one of the most beautiful tails out of any fish, so I went with a beta. The beads that glimmer and sparkle next to my string art, are meant to represent how when sunlight hits the water it glimmers. The scales on the fish also gleam in the sun. I hoped to make my fish look like it was dancing in the sun.
