Topographic Vase

Artist Statement: For my topographic map vase, I chose to carve cut-outs that resemble a topographic map. My process was fairly straight forward, starting with throwing a midsized vase then mapping out the spots I wanted to carve out using a needle tool. Over the course of the week I diligently carved out each curve. Since I wanted this vase to still be functional, I also threw an insert to fit the opening of the vase so that it would be able to hold water and flowers.
