Title of Art Piece: Soot and Solitude
Category: Drawing – 2025
Student/Artist’s Name: Camila Vargas
School: Cordova High School
Grade: 9th
Artist Statement: My artwork is named “Soot and Solitude”. My art is a scratch art piece, it is a burnt down forest with a man walking through it. I used an x-acto knife and a toothpick to create the lines and details. It represents the wildfires taking over the forests and causing there to be no wildlife. The man represents someone walking through the burnt down forest and realizing that there is nothing that they can do to help. My goal is to convey a somber mood with this scratch art. I am very happy with the way that this turned out and I want to share it with others.
Artwork Dimensions: 9 inches high x 9 inches wide
