My Mother’s Beauty

Artist Statement: I enjoy painting someone I love. I took a good picture of my mother, and I saw her beauty. I painted this portrait for my dad’s birthday. They have been married 20 years. I used water soluble oils on canvas and left the background with an unfinished look. I want my mother to stand out. I want the viewer to notice the balance between a classical portrait and an empty background.
