Artist Statement: The focus of my artworks is the skeletal form of extinct species, mainly focusing on the Pleistocene era of prehistory. I concentrate on ignored species from a time before ours, no less evolved and adapted to their own habitat and era. All we see of them are the shape of their bones and the mark they left on our ancestry, we have no pictures of them in their full glory, no proof of their form other than inferences from their skeletons. I focus on just that, their skeletons, the proof of their existence an unfathomably long time ago. I struggled with the medium of block printing for a while, creating countless failures and a terrible wood print before creating a set of prints of Mylohyus with a patterned background to help distribute the ink evenly.
