We Used To Be Brothers

Artist Statement: I drew this image as part of my AP Portfolio, focused on the destruction of war. The writing says, “We used to be brothers. Why have we become enemies?” The man in the middle is a university student in Moscow who was fined for “disturbing peace” through holding up a sign of protest. The Russo-Ukrainian conflict is one that feels close to be because one of my instructors is from Ukraine. It strikes me as odd how much these two countries are connected but how intense this war is. And I aimed to show the irony of that through this piece.
