Beach Day

Artist Statement: This is my drawing of ducks that I did for a Ducks unlimited junior stamp competition. I’ve been drawing for as long as I’ve been able to hold a pencil. I’ve mostly worked with black and white but I’ve been trying to go into more color to bring life to my drawings. These are long-tailed ducks, I’ve never drawn them before but my dad had a mount of one (the duck near the top of the page) then found photos and videos of the ducks to see how they moved and how I could try to capture them onto the page. I sketched them out with a pencil and then colored them with colored pencils. I like how I was able to make the eyes lifelike and get most of the details right. There is one summer plumage(the one to the farthest left)and two winter plumage.(the other two)
