Emerging

Artist Statement:For this art piece Paul Jackson was the primary inspiration. When it came down to the animal I
chose to illustrate I chose one of my favorite animals I have studied in my Alaskan Wildlife class
the Western Long-eared Bat. To me The illustration represents freedom, even when freedom
seemed achievable before; sometimes you have to break out of your skin. I went through a
rigorous process of studying bat anatomy, muscles, organs, bones, skin. All of the studies
helped me get to my end goal of creating my final piece.
