Artist Statement: Finding a whole urchin shell on the beach is such a treasure because the are so delicate and fragile. I created this to communicate that rare beauty, working to make it thin and hallow, emphasizing the mysterious hole where there once was a living creature. Applying the texture took patience. I chose the glaze carefully to show off the texture, and I expected it to be more green. I really like the rivulets of brown, though.
