I painted this watercolor scene of Pilgrim Hot Springs which is about 60 miles outside of where we live in Nome. It was a Catholic orphanage during the flu epidemic in the early 1900’s. Today, people enjoy the natural hot springs and efforts have been made to garden and grow produce there in recent years. It is a unique and historic place in our region and why I wanted to paint it.
