Soup Tureen and 2 Bowls

March 4, 2014 ASAA

(Honorable Mention – Ceramics)

Title of Art Piece: Soup Tureen and 2 Bowls
Category: Ceramics – 2014
Student/Artist’s Name: Brian Rowe
School: Homer High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement: I am a part time artist in ceramics and when I am in the art studio I am a full time thrower. I use clay to bring out the creative side of me that my regular life does not provide me with. Something as simple as a mug that is an everyday tool used to drink can express the deepest meaning. I have a unique style that I have formed over the years by watching my fellow throwers. Most of my work is made from the symmetrical section of my brain which wants perfection as if a machine has made it. I feel as if this gives my work a more professional look. The deep, rounded foot is one of the techniques that I have picked up and adapted it to my style of art. Also my work has pulled handles which are uniquely made for each of my pots.
Artwork Dimensions: 10 inches high X 7 inches wide
