Slow Night

(3rd Place – Painting)

Title of Art Piece: Slow Night
Category: Painting
Student/Artist’s Name: Monica Lisun
School: West Valley High School
Grade: 11th

Artist Statement: This painting was inspired by the endless night that is Alaska. From the city lights making the sky a faded rose pink, to the gentle blue of the snow, to the smattering of stars twinkling in the sky. This painting was inspired by a real place in Alaska, where the sky was a wide and endless as an ocean, and as dark as ebony. I made this painting to relieve the stress of living in a 9 month a year iceland, therefore making the painting in a setting of the day before the first snowfall, crisp and clean, with just a hint on the coming cold. 11×14 Acrylic paint.
