Shoot for the Moon

April 6, 2018 ASAA

Title of Art Piece: Shoot for the Moon
Category: Communication Arts / Graphic Design – 2018
Student/Artist’s Name: Kat Barr
School: Colony High School
Grade: 10th
Artist Statement:

The theme for this project was “show what you see in your future” To be honest, I hate the future, the thought startles me; I don’t know who I will be, where I’ll be, I don’t know anything. It seems so uncontrollable and the possibility of failure is extreme. . . yet, so promising. I had no idea what to do with this project then a saying came to me which has been with me for so long “Shoot for the moon and if you miss you’ll land among the stars.” That’s how I see the future we want the best for ourselves; to get the best job, place to live, grades etc. But even if we don’t get the best in life you will still make it. Personally, the saying means a lot to me as I put so much pressure on myself to succeed and I don’t get all A’s and be the “best child” I’m a failure, that’s well. . . not true. Because in the end I may not be on the moon but I will still be among the stars. That is the meaning behind this piece.
