PINTO

Title of Art Piece: PINTO
Category: Ceramics
Student/Artist’s Name: Rebecca Vanlue
School: American Charter Academy
Grade: 10th

Artist Statement: Ceramic 3.75”H x 4.5”W x 7”L I received my inspiration while I was doing a U.S. History project. This was my first project dealing with proportion in a 3-D medium. I learned a little more about American Indians and their relations with the wild mustangs, also known as the horse. I have a little mix of Indian ancestry and felt a sweet connection with these animals. So, this is one of my proudest works of art. I do see room for improvement, for I am not perfect, but for my first try dealing with materials I rarely use, I have to say my time was well spent. This project took two whole weeks to complete.

One whole day was spent on the painting and glazing. I can see that this is where I need lots of improvement. Aside from that, I saw the patterns I wanted to see and other mixes of colors I never even used.

So, I can only say that I love this work of art, even if it is not perfect. I hope you enjoy my hard creative effort as well.
