Artist Statement: This piece of artwork was created to represent the desensitization of the destruction of nature. The dead rose placed in the hand represents the damage that we are causing to nature. The white hand represents mankind and the thought behind making the hand white was to represent how mankind has become alienated from nature. The reason that the tips of the fingers are broken off is to represent desensitization of the damage we are doing to nature.
