(Honorable Mention – Jewelry/Metalsmithing)
School: West Valley High School
Grade: 12th
For this piece, my teacher and I found a chunk of scrap Alder wood with a dark colored line running down the center of it. I decided to make a simple pendant and thought it would look nice with the line off centered. I proceeded to sand and grind a large amount of it down to a small ovular shape. I then carved out a groove that I was able to solder a jump ring to before attaching to the wood.
