New York City

KoleenaNYC

(2nd Place – Drawing)

Title of Art Piece: New York City
Category: Drawing
Student/Artist’s Name: Koleena Guzman
School: West Anchorage High School
Grade: 11th

Artist Statement: I began to work on this New York City drawing at the start of summer because I wanted to create something big that I would be proud of for a long time. Using a standard sized loose leaf paper to start the piece, I drew the first building to the piece using a fine tipped Sharpie and ruler and already I began to lose interest in completing it. After finding the motivation again, I taped additional pages to the starting page to expand the piece, and I finished the New York City piece after about a month’s time.
I wanted to draw New York City because it has always been my dying dream to live there and eventually settle down to pursue an art career.
