Miscellaneous Me

April 2, 2012 ASAA

Miscellaneous Me

(2nd Place – Printmaking)

Title of Art Piece: Miscellaneous Me
Category: Printmaking
Student/Artist’s Name: Maddie Bee
School: Dimond High School
Grade: 11th

Artist Statement: This piece began as an image burned on a screen that I produced in quick succession. Unable to tell the first print from the sixth I began to explore a variety of media. Roaming the art room for something that would bring some life to my plain prints. I found paint, newspaper, chalk, and pastels. While I was working I realized that each print I experimented on was a reflection of me in some aspect. The splatters of paint reminded me of how life can get a messy but it just makes it all the more worth it. My drawn in hair reflected how sometimes I’m not always there and so occasionally I have to be drawn in. Finally the newspaper print is how my life is pressed against the surface of the world.
